Rajasthan is sharpening its focus on energy efficiency, not just as a ranking metric but as a long-term development strategy. In this direction, the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited (RRECL) recently hosted a high-level roundtable in Jaipur to review progress under the State Energy Efficiency Index (SEEI) and chart the way forward.

The meeting brought together policymakers, experts, DISCOM representatives, and industry stakeholders at Vidyut Bhawan, creating a platform for open discussion on improving the state’s energy efficiency framework. Senior officials from the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), including Secretary Milind Deore and Director Abhishek Sharma, led the discussions.

While Rajasthan has already established itself as a leader in renewable energy, experts highlighted that energy efficiency must now become an equally strong pillar. Dr. Satish Kumar, President of AEEE, acknowledged the state’s progress but stressed the importance of better data alignment, stronger coordination between departments, and timely reporting under the SEEI framework.

At the heart of the discussion was a shift in perspective. Dr. Rohit Gupta, IAS and CMD of RRECL, emphasised that SEEI should not be viewed merely as a ranking exercise, but as a strategic tool to identify gaps, strengthen policies, and guide decision-making.

Several key steps were discussed to accelerate progress. These include setting up quarterly coordination mechanisms between departments, improving data management systems, and advancing the Rajasthan Energy Conservation and Sustainable Building Code (RECSBC). The integration of EV infrastructure and stronger compliance measures were also part of the roadmap.

The Bureau of Energy Efficiency assured full support to Rajasthan, expressing confidence that with stronger collaboration and focused execution, the state can emerge as a top performer in the next SEEI cycle.

The roundtable reflects Rajasthan’s evolving approach—moving beyond targets and rankings to build a structured, data-driven, and sustainable energy future.
