Ashok Kumar Kaluaram Meena

In a key administrative arrangement, the Central Government has assigned additional charge of Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change to senior IAS officer Ashok Kumar Kaluaram Meena.

A 1993-batch IAS officer of the Odisha cadre, Meena is currently serving as Secretary in the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation under the Ministry of Jal Shakti. He will now take on the additional responsibility during the leave period of Tanmay Kumar, the incumbent Environment Secretary.

With a long and diverse administrative career, Meena brings significant experience to the role. He has previously served as Chairman and Managing Director of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) and held key positions in Odisha, including Principal Secretary in the Finance and Panchayati Raj departments.

Officials said the decision ensures continuity in the functioning of the Environment Ministry, which handles critical areas such as climate policy, forest conservation, and environmental regulation.

Known for his administrative experience and policy understanding, Meena is expected to manage the additional charge smoothly while continuing his current responsibilities.
