2nd National Mobility Summit 2026

Hyderabad, March 17, 2026: The 2nd National Mobility Summit Telangana 2026, organised by Elets Technomedia in collaboration with the Transport Department, Government of Telangana, and Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited, was successfully held in Hyderabad on March 17, bringing together policymakers, transport authorities, industry leaders, startups, and technology providers to deliberate on the future of mobility in India.

Held under the theme “Accelerating the Future of Mobility,” the summit served as a key platform for discussions on policy frameworks, digital platforms, clean energy solutions, and multimodal transport systems shaping the next phase of mobility transformation across Indian cities.

The inaugural session featured Shri Ponnam Prabhakar, Hon’ble Minister for Transport & BC Welfare, Government of Telangana, along with senior officials including Vikas Raj, Special Chief Secretary, Transport Department, Dr. K. Ilambarithi, Transport Commissioner, and Sarfaraz Ahmad, Managing Director, Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited and Commissioner, Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority.

Speaking at the summit, the hon’ble minister highlighted the state’s proactive approach towards sustainable mobility and electric vehicles.
“The Telangana government introduced a progressive EV policy with tax and registration exemptions until 2026, which has already helped drive the sale of around 1.55 lakh electric vehicles in the state. To reduce pollution and promote sustainable mobility, the government is expanding electric mobility in Hyderabad, including the introduction of electric buses and encouraging cleaner alternatives for auto-rickshaws,” he said.

Vikas Raj, Special Chief Secretary, Transport Department, Government of Telangana, emphasised the importance of collaborative dialogue for future mobility planning.
“This summit provided an important opportunity for brainstorming and exploring what Telangana—and especially Hyderabad—can do to build a more futuristic mobility ecosystem. From the fuels we adopt and technologies we deploy to transport modes, road infrastructure, and financing models, open discussions are essential to shaping the future of mobility,” he said.

Welcoming the delegates, Dr. Ravi Gupta, Founder, CEO and Editor-in-Chief, Elets Technomedia, highlighted the importance of such platforms in enabling policy dialogue and collaboration.

Dr. K. Ilambarithi, Transport Commissioner, Government of Telangana, noted that mobility today plays a far broader role in urban development.
“Mobility today is no longer just about moving vehicles and people. It is about enabling economic growth, ensuring public safety, improving quality of life, and building sustainable cities for future generations,” he said.

Sarfaraz Ahmad, Managing Director, Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited and Commissioner, Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority, stressed the importance of integrated transport systems.
“Urban mobility can no longer be addressed in silos. Cities across the world are moving towards integrated mobility ecosystems where roads, metro rail, buses, non-motorised transport, and technology-driven last-mile connectivity operate seamlessly together,” he said.

Highlighting the environmental impact of conventional transport systems, Y. Nagi Reddy, Managing Director, Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC), said,
“TSRTC operates around 10,000 buses, transporting nearly 60 lakh passengers daily and covering about 32 lakh kilometres every day. Running this fleet requires around 6 lakh litres of diesel daily, resulting in nearly 1,500 tonnes of CO₂ emissions. Recognising this, the government is moving towards electric mobility to build a cleaner public transport system.”

From the industry perspective, Vivek Krishna, Vice President – Finance, Rapido, highlighted Hyderabad’s role as a leading innovation hub for mobility platforms.
“Hyderabad has not only embraced innovation but has actively enabled it. Today it proudly stands as Rapido’s largest and one of its most successful markets in India, driven by progressive policymaking, administrative openness, and a shared commitment to addressing urban mobility challenges,” he said.

eGov Magazine Special Edition Released

During the summit, a special edition of eGov Magazine dedicated to the urban mobility landscape of Telangana was also launched.

The edition was released by Shri Ponnam Prabhakar, in the presence of distinguished dignitaries including Dr. Ravi Gupta, K.S. Sreenivasa Raju, Principal Secretary to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Telangana, K. Ramakrishna Rao, Vikas Raj, Dr. K. Ilambarithi, Sarfaraz Ahmad, Y. Nagi Reddy, and Vivek Krishna.

The special edition features exclusive articles, interviews, and case studies highlighting Telangana’s urban mobility initiatives, technology-driven transport solutions, and emerging mobility trends across India.

The summit also featured several expert presentations and special addresses on digital commerce and sustainable mobility.

Nitin Nair, Senior Executive Director, Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), spoke about the role of open digital networks in enabling mobility platforms.
“We were set up in late 2021 with the vision of digitising commerce in India and bringing a transformative shift in how digital transactions are conducted. Creating an open and inclusive network that enables seamless participation remains the north star guiding our work,” he said.

Dr. Renuka Mishra, Economic Adviser, Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India, highlighted the role of policy in accelerating clean mobility.
“Just as e-Office transformed the government’s working style by making it more digital and efficient, the concept of e-mobility is now transforming the transportation sector. India’s targets of achieving net-zero emissions by 2070 and 30 percent EV adoption by 2030 will depend on the ecosystem we build today,” she said.

The 2nd National Mobility Summit was supported by several industry partners from the mobility and clean energy ecosystem.
