Kapil is currently serving as Executive Director (Finance Expenditure) at the Railway Board and brings with him wide experience in public sector finance, governance, and administration. His appointment comes at an important time for NMDC, as the company continues to expand its mining operations and strategic investments.

As Director (Finance), he will be responsible for key areas such as financial planning, budgeting, capital management, investments, and strengthening internal financial controls. His role will be important in ensuring that the company maintains financial discipline while supporting future growth.

Kapil’s background in the Indian Railway Accounts Service (IRAS) has given him deep experience in handling large government financial systems, expenditure management, and policy implementation. This experience is expected to help NMDC further improve its financial efficiency and governance practices.

For NMDC, the appointment is more than a routine leadership change. It signals the company’s intention to place strong financial oversight at the centre of its next phase of growth. With a sharper focus on resource optimisation, expansion, and profitability, experienced leadership in finance becomes especially important.

The company has also informed stock exchanges about the appointment in line with SEBI regulations, reflecting compliance with governance and disclosure norms.

NMDC is India’s leading mining company and the country’s largest iron ore producer. As a major public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Steel, it plays a crucial role in supporting India’s steel industry and broader industrial growth.
