In a significant leadership development for India’s defence and aerospace sector, the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended Shri Kota Ravi for the post of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), a Schedule ‘A’ Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Defence.
The recommendation was made during PESB Meeting No. 8/2026, held on Wednesday morning, and was recorded under Minute No. 1. Shri Ravi, who is currently serving as Director (Operations) at HAL, emerged as the top choice after an extensive selection process.

With decades of hands-on experience in aviation operations, manufacturing, and programme management, Shri Kota Ravi is widely regarded as a seasoned professional within HAL. His elevation comes at a critical phase when the company is expanding its footprint across fighter aircraft, helicopters, engines, UAVs, and advanced defence platforms.
Industry observers believe his operational background will help HAL strengthen execution capabilities, meet delivery timelines, and push forward indigenous defence manufacturing under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

HAL is currently at the centre of India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem, playing a pivotal role in projects related to fighter jets, rotorcraft, trainer aircraft, and next-generation aerospace systems.
