Indore: On the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav laid the foundation stone of the AMRUT 2.0 Indore Water Supply Project (Package-1), marking a major step towards strengthening the city’s water infrastructure. The project, with an estimated cost of over ₹800 crore, was launched at a ceremony held at the Lata Mangeshkar Auditorium.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said Makar Sankranti symbolises new beginnings and steady progress, adding that Indore continues to move forward as one of India’s fastest-growing cities in terms of development, cleanliness, industry and governance. He described the project as a vital investment in the city’s future.
Modernising Indore’s Water Network
The AMRUT 2.0 project aims to ensure a reliable and sustainable water supply for Indore’s growing population. Key features include:

Construction of a new intake well at Jalud and Gram Bhakalay with a capacity of 1,650 MLD

Installation of raw and clear water pumping mains of 2,235 mm diameter

Development of 11 kV, 33 kV and 132 kV substations for uninterrupted power supply

A modern water treatment plant of 400 MLD capacity

Break pressure tanks to maintain balanced water pressure
The project also includes 10 years of operation and maintenance, ensuring long-term efficiency and quality service delivery.
Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav noted that the overall water infrastructure plan for Indore has been expanded significantly to cater to long-term requirements, underlining the government’s commitment to future-ready urban services.
Commitment to Safe Drinking Water
The Chief Minister reiterated that providing clean and safe drinking water to every city and village remains a key priority under the Jal Jeevan Mission. He also spoke about ongoing and proposed regional water projects, including river-linking initiatives that are expected to benefit Madhya Pradesh and neighbouring states.
Senior Leaders in Attendance
The event was attended by several senior leaders and officials, including Urban Development & Housing Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, Water Resources Minister Tulsiram Silawat, local MPs and MLAs, along with senior district and municipal अधिकारियों. Before the ceremony, the Chief Minister paid floral tributes at the statues of Maa Narmada, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Lata Mangeshkar.
