The Madhya Pradesh government is set to launch the ‘PM Shri Air Tourism’ helicopter service on November 1, coinciding with the state’s Foundation Day. The initiative aims to enhance intra-state air connectivity by linking major tourist and pilgrimage destinations, giving a boost to tourism and ease of travel across the state.
As part of the launch, three helicopters will take off from Bhopal’s Raja Bhoj Airport during the inaugural event. Regular operations are scheduled to begin on November 20, covering important locations such as Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Jabalpur, Pachmarhi, and Rewa.

The state tourism department has partnered with private operators under a public-private partnership model. M/s Trans Bharat Aviation will manage Sector 1 operations, while M/s Jet Serve Aviation will handle Sectors 2 and 3. Each helicopter will have a seating capacity of at least six passengers and operate five days a week.
The initiative marks a first-of-its-kind effort in India, with Madhya Pradesh becoming the pioneer state to introduce structured helicopter-based intra-state air services focused on tourism. Officials believe the service will improve accessibility to heritage, adventure, and wildlife destinations, supporting the state’s broader goal of promoting sustainable and inclusive tourism growth.
