The Government of Uttar Pradesh has announced plans to construct a dedicated naval gallantry museum in Lucknow, aimed at honouring the valour and legacy of the Indian Navy. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the project proposal and directed officials to expedite its development.
The museum, to be located near Ekana Stadium on the banks of the Gomti River, will feature two major components: an interpretation centre and an open-air museum. It will showcase decommissioned naval assets such as the INS Gomati (F-21) guided-missile frigate, the TU‑142 maritime reconnaissance aircraft, and the Sea King SK‑42B helicopter, offering visitors a close-up view of India’s maritime heritage.

The facility is being designed in the abstract shape of a ship and will include features such as ship-style railings, porthole-style windows, open memorial areas, thematic walkways, exhibition galleries, fountains and a light-and-sound arena. The design emphasises sustainability, incorporating natural lighting, ventilation and green construction methods.
Officials have noted that the museum will serve not only as a static display but as an immersive experience centre equipped with interactive galleries, simulators and digital installations to engage youth and the general public with India’s naval history and evolving maritime strategy.
