Andhra Pradesh is rolling out an ambitious long-term technology vision that aims to place the State at the centre of India’s next digital and scientific leap. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced a multi-city innovation strategy that will transform Visakhapatnam into a global data centre hub and develop Amaravati as India’s dedicated Quantum Valley.
Speaking at the “Quantum Talk by CM CBN” programme, the Chief Minister said Visakhapatnam’s strong subsea cable connectivity, growing digital infrastructure and strategic coastal location are positioning the city as a key node in the global data ecosystem. He noted that the city is fast becoming an attractive destination for large-scale technology investments.
Amaravati, on the other hand, is being envisioned as the heart of the State’s future knowledge economy. Mr. Naidu described the planned Quantum Valley as a centre for research, skilling, innovation and advanced computing, designed to support next-generation technologies that will drive India’s digital transformation.
The Chief Minister also outlined a distributed innovation model, under which different regions of Andhra Pradesh will develop specialised technology clusters. Tirupati is being developed as a Space City, while Anantapur and Kadapa are being positioned as hubs for electronics manufacturing and aerospace industries. This approach, he said, will ensure balanced regional development while creating large-scale employment opportunities.
Highlighting early momentum, Mr. Naidu revealed that Google is set to establish its largest data centre in Visakhapatnam, a move expected to significantly boost the State’s digital infrastructure capacity. He also announced the launch of what he described as the world’s largest quantum skilling programme, which has already seen more than 50,000 registrations within ten days.
Looking ahead, the Chief Minister said Andhra Pradesh aims to begin producing quantum computers within the next two years. He also unveiled a 20-year roadmap for developing a Quantum and Green Hydrogen Valley, positioning the State as a key contributor to India’s technology-led growth vision aligned with Viksit Bharat 2047.
Officials said the roadmap marks a renewed push to build a globally competitive innovation ecosystem, blending advanced research, sustainable energy and digital infrastructure to shape Andhra Pradesh as a future technology powerhouse.
