The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has cleared and recommended a series of senior-level appointments across major public sector undertakings, including Coal India Limited, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited and State Bank of India. The changes include regular and interim leadership transitions following superannuation of incumbents and approvals by the Public Enterprises Selection Board and the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.

B Sairam Appointed CMD of Coal India Limited
B Sairam, currently Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Northern Coalfields Limited, has been appointed Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Coal India Limited. He will hold the post until his superannuation on March 31, 2028. His name was recommended by the Public Enterprises Selection Board on September 20, 2025. Sairam succeeds P M Prasad, who retired from the post on October 31, 2025.

Sanoj Kumar Jha Held Interim Charge of CIL CMD

Following the retirement of P M Prasad, Sanoj Kumar Jha, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Coal, was given interim charge as Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Coal India Limited. The arrangement was for a period of three months or until the appointment of a regular incumbent, whichever was earlier. Jha assumed charge after Prasad relinquished office on superannuation.

Ravi Ranjan Appointed SBI Managing Director
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Ravi Ranjan, Deputy Managing Director of State Bank of India, as Managing Director of the bank. He will serve in the role until his superannuation on September 30, 2028.
Vamsi Rama Mohan Burra Recommended as PGCIL CMD
Vamsi Rama Mohan Burra, Director (Projects) at Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, has been recommended by the Public Enterprises Selection Board for appointment as Chairman and Managing Director of the company. The recommendation followed an interview process involving eight candidates. Subject to vigilance clearances and approval by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, Burra will succeed R K Tyagi, who is due to retire on March 31, 2026.
