The Government of Uttar Pradesh has undertaken a large-scale administrative reshuffle, transferring 46 IAS officers, including three Divisional Commissioners and ten District Magistrates, as part of its latest reorganisation of senior bureaucracy. Director General of Fisheries Rajesh Prakash has been posted as Divisional Commissioner, Vindhyachal; Dr Rupesh Kumar, Managing Director of Uttar Pradesh State Electricity Generation Corporation, has been appointed Divisional Commissioner, Saharanpur; and Bhanu Chandra Goswami, Secretary in the Revenue Department, will now serve as Divisional Commissioner, Meerut.

Among the District Magistrate changes: 

  • Atul Vats has been appointed to Hathras
  •  Rajaganapati R. to Sitapur
  •  Krittika Jyotsna to Basti
  • Shivsharanappa G.N. to Siddharthnagar
  • Pulkit Garg to Chitrakoot
  • Amit Pal to Kaushambi
  • Vipin Kumar Jain to Balrampur
  • Satya Prakash to Lalitpur
  •  Ashwini Kumar Pandey to Shravasti
  •  Ajay Kumar Dwivedi to Rampur

Three of whom have been reassigned from one district to another.

The reshuffle further extends to other key administrative posts. New Chief Development Officers have been appointed in Varanasi, Aligarh, Bijnor, Kushinagar, Rampur, Maharajganj, and Amethi. 

The Municipal Commissioners of Varanasi and Firozabad, along with the Vice-Chairpersons of Development Authorities, have also been replaced. Transfers include changes in the Jhansi Municipal Corporation and the Prayagraj, Ghaziabad, and Ayodhya Development Authorities, indicating a broader administrative revamp across the state.

The move, carried out ahead of the special revision of the voter list scheduled for February 7, 2026, was approved by the Election Commission of India. Officials stated that the exercise aims to enhance administrative efficiency and ensure smooth coordination across key districts and divisions.
