Tamil Nadu Government Appoints Four IAS Officers as Official Spokespersons

In a strategic move aimed at enhancing transparency and strengthening public communication, the Government of Tamil Nadu has appointed four senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers as official spokespersons for various departments.

The newly designated spokespersons will be responsible for disseminating verified updates and achievements of their respective departments to the public and media. This initiative is expected to streamline government communication and ensure a timely and accurate flow of information.

The appointed officers and their respective departmental responsibilities are as follows:

  • Dr. J Radhakrishnan, Additional Chief Secretary and CMD of TANGEDCO, will serve as the spokesperson for departments including Energy, Health and Family Welfare, Transport, Cooperation, Food and Consumer Protection, School and Higher Education, Textiles, Human Resource Management, and Welfare of Overseas Tamils.
  • Gagandeep Singh Bedi, Additional Chief Secretary of Rural Development, will represent Municipal Administration and Water Supply, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Agriculture, Water Resources, Environment, Climate Change and Forests, MSMEs, Industries, and Natural Resources.
  • Dheeraj Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary of Home, Prohibition and Excise, will serve as the spokesperson for his department.
  • P. Amudha, Additional Chief Secretary of Revenue and Disaster Management, will communicate on behalf of departments including Revenue, Disaster Management, Women and Social Welfare, Welfare of the Differently Abled, Welfare of SC/ST and Minorities, Labour, Housing, Highways and Ports, Tourism, Culture, Religious Endowments, and Special Programme Implementation.

According to official protocols, departmental secretaries will provide factual updates to the appointed spokespersons, who will then engage with the media after thorough verification and consultation with the Chief Secretary. This development marks a significant step towards fostering a more structured and transparent communication channel between the state administration and the public.
