In a major administrative reshuffle aimed at maintaining seamless governance, the Himachal Pradesh government has entrusted additional responsibilities to eight IAS officers. The decision comes in light of several senior officers proceeding on leave or undergoing training.

The orders for the reallocation of portfolios were issued by Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena. The reassignment is intended to ensure continuity in administrative operations by enabling these IAS officers to manage supplementary charges alongside their current duties.

Revised Portfolios of IAS Officers
Key changes include:

• Dr. Abhishek Jain, currently Secretary (PWD, Finance, Planning, Economic & Statistics, and 20 Point Program), will now also serve as Secretary to the Chief Minister.

  
  
  

• M. Sudha Devi, Secretary (Health and Family Welfare, and Personnel), has been given additional charge of Secretary (MPP and Electricity, NCES, and Education).

• C. Paulrasu, Secretary (AR, Training & FA, RPG, Cooperation, Horticulture & Agriculture), will now also handle the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department.

• Ritesh Chauhan, Secretary (Animal Husbandry), has been assigned additional responsibilities of the Transport and Industry departments.

• Rajesh Sharma, Secretary (Rural Development, Panchayati Raj & GAD), will also oversee SAD, SWD, and Parliamentary Affairs.

• Rakhil Kahlon, currently Secretary (AYUSH & DT&G), will additionally serve as Divisional Commissioner, Shimla Division, and continue overseeing I&PR, Language, Art & Culture, Technical Education, and JSV.

• Dr. Richa Verma, Managing Director of the Himachal Pradesh Handicrafts and Handloom Corporation Limited, has now also been appointed as MD of HPMC Shimla, HP Agro Industries Corporation, and HP Agro Industrial Packaging India Ltd.

• Rakesh Kumar Prajapati, Director (Energy), will also take on the role of Managing Director, Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL).

Reason Behind the Administrative Shuffle

The reshuffling was necessitated due to the leave and training engagements of key officers, including:

• R.D. Nazim, Additional Chief Secretary (Food, Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs, Transport & Industry)

• Rakesh Kanwar, Secretary (Education, LAC, I&PR, SAD, SWD, Parliamentary Affairs, MPP, Energy and NCES, and Secretary to the Chief Minister)

Furthermore, IAS officers Kadam Sandeep Vasant, Sudesh Kumar Mokhta, and Sandeep Kumar are currently undergoing training, contributing to the need for interim redistribution of roles.
