IMC 2025

In a major announcement underscoring India’s digital ambitions, Union Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, unveiled the theme for the 9th edition of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025—‘Innovate to Transform’. Scheduled to take place from October 8 to 11 at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre, New Delhi, IMC 2025 is poised to be a global showcase of next-generation technologies and a catalyst for India’s leadership in the digital ecosystem.

Emphasising the critical role of innovation in nation-building, Shri Scindia noted that the theme encapsulates India’s journey of technological self-reliance, where innovation acts as the guiding principle for transformation across sectors. The event will spotlight India’s capabilities in telecom, electronics, and emerging technologies, developed over the past decade.

Organised jointly by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), IMC 2025 is expected to draw over 1.5 lakh attendees from more than 150 countries, feature 400+ exhibitors, and host 800+ distinguished speakers across 100+ conference sessions. More than 7,000 global delegates are anticipated to participate.

The flagship startup initiative, ASPIRE—launched in 2023—will return this year with a strong lineup of over 500 startups. The programme aims to foster connections with over 300 investors, incubators, and venture capitalists, facilitating mentorship, live pitch sessions, and strategic networking.

A key highlight of IMC 2025 will be the demonstration of over 1,000 cutting-edge use cases across technologies such as 5G, 6G, artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), electronics manufacturing, and green tech. These innovations aim to address real-world challenges and enable inclusive digital growth.

Dr. Neeraj Mittal, Chairman DCC and Secretary (Telecom), DoT, emphasised that IMC aligns with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047, with technology playing a transformative role.

As part of the event, the Ministry also announced the winners of the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Telecom Excellence Awards 2024, recognising significant contributions in telecom innovation, services, manufacturing, skilling, and applications. The recipients included:

  • Mr. Parag Naik, Co-founder, Sankhya Labs

  • Niral Networks Private Limited, Bengaluru

  • Lekha Wireless, Bengaluru

  • Prof. Chandra Ramabhadra Murthy, IISC Bengaluru

  • Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT)

Each award comprises a citation, shawl, and a cash prize of ₹2 lakh.

Further reinforcing its commitment to digital empowerment, Shri Scindia launched the revamped Sanchar Mitra Scheme, transforming it into a nationwide initiative driven by student volunteers. Designed to raise citizen awareness on telecom safety, cybersecurity, and digital hygiene, the scheme will engage students from technical institutions across India. Volunteers, known as Sanchar Mitras, will undertake community outreach in schools and public forums, educating citizens on responsible digital behaviour.

As the nation celebrates Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, IMC 2025 reaffirms India’s commitment to digital inclusion, innovation-led growth, and global leadership in next-gen technology.
