India Energy Week (IEW) 2025

India is making significant strides in the global energy landscape, reaffirming its commitment to sustainable growth and innovation. The India Energy Week (IEW) 2025, held from February 11 to 14 at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre, New Delhi, emerged as a key platform for fostering global collaboration in the energy sector. Organised under the patronage of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and hosted by the Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry (FIPI), the event has grown to become the world’s second-largest energy conference.

A Hub of Innovation and Business Opportunities

IEW 2025 served as a crucial confluence for international energy professionals, facilitating discussions on the latest advancements in sustainable energy. With participation from key stakeholders across 120 countries, the event provided a valuable platform for networking, strategic partnerships, and showcasing pioneering technologies. The exhibition witnessed multi-million-dollar business transactions, underscoring India’s central role in shaping the future of energy.

Key Focus Areas of IEW 2025

The conference focused on pivotal themes crucial to the energy transition:

  • Green Energy Initiatives: India continues to advance its green energy agenda, emphasising biofuels, flex-fuel vehicles, ethanol blending, and green hydrogen. The country aims to achieve an annual production of 5 million metric tons (MMT) of green hydrogen by 2030.
  • Exploration & Production (E&P) Reforms: The launch of Open Acreage Licensing Program (OALP) Round X, covering 200,000 sq. km, is set to drive investment in the oil and gas sector through regulatory enhancements.
  • India-US Energy Cooperation: Strengthening partnerships in liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply and increasing India’s natural gas consumption from 6% to 15% in the overall energy mix.
  • Global Energy Investments: Expanding oil and gas investments across key global markets, including Brazil, Venezuela, Russia, and Mozambique.
  • Startup & Innovation Recognition: The ‘Avinya’25 – Energy Startup Challenge’ recognised groundbreaking contributions in CO₂ capture, ESG solutions, and renewable energy. Similarly, the ‘Vasudha – Oil and Gas Startup Challenge’ honoured AI-driven innovations in upstream oil and gas operations.

India’s Commitment to a Sustainable Future

As the world’s third-largest energy consumer, India is taking bold steps toward sustainable energy security. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Panchamrit Initiative, introduced at COP26, outlines India’s five-point commitment to combat climate change:

  1. Expanding non-fossil energy capacity to 500 GW by 2030.
  2. Reducing carbon intensity by 45% by 2030.
  3. Meeting 50% of energy needs through renewable sources by 2030.
  4. Achieving net-zero emissions by 2070.
  5. Cutting total projected carbon emissions by one billion tonnes by 2030.

India Energy Week 2025 reinforced India’s leadership in global energy transformation. As highlighted by Shri Pankaj Jain, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, the event catalyses groundbreaking advancements in green hydrogen, solar technology, and exploration. With an emphasis on innovation, investment, and collaboration, IEW 2025 has positioned India at the forefront of the global energy revolution, fostering a secure and sustainable energy future.
