Senior railway engineer Alok Tiwari, a 1988-batch Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) officer, has taken over the additional charge of Managing Director, Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL).

Tiwari assumed the additional responsibility on October 1, 2026, while continuing in his existing role as Additional Member (Bridge), Railway Board. The arrangement will remain in effect until further orders.
Tiwari Brings 36 Years of Railway Experience
Tiwari has more than 36 years of experience with Indian Railways, covering infrastructure planning, construction, project execution, safety, freight operations and administration.

Over the course of his career, he has been involved in major railway infrastructure projects from planning and construction through commissioning. He has directly contributed to the construction and commissioning of more than 1,000 km of railway infrastructure.
Experience Across Construction and Operations

Tiwari has held several senior positions across railway construction, safety and operations.
His previous assignments include Chief Administrative Officer (Construction), South East Central Railway, Principal Chief Safety Officer, South Western Railway, and Divisional Railway Manager, Guntakal Division.
These roles have given him experience in both large infrastructure projects and the operational management of railway networks.
Experience with RVNL
Tiwari has also worked with Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) as Chief Project Manager-cum-Group General Manager.
The assignment provided him with additional exposure to large-scale railway project execution and infrastructure development outside the conventional zonal railway structure.
Senior Role at Railway Board
Before taking charge at DFCCIL, Tiwari was serving as Additional Member (Bridge) at the Railway Board.
He was appointed to the position in February 2026, after serving as Principal Executive Director (Bridge). In his current Railway Board role, he has been involved at a senior level in railway infrastructure planning, particularly concerning bridges and other major engineering assets.
