PM Modi Hails India’s 7.8% GDP Growth Amid Global Uncertainty

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated the people of India on the country recording 7.8% GDP growth, saying the performance reflects the collective efforts and resilience of the nation despite wars, instability and supply-chain disruptions.

In a video message, Modi said India has continued to progress despite the economic uncertainty that has followed the COVID-19 pandemic and recent global conflicts.

PM Modi Calls for Faster Growth

The Prime Minister said India must maintain the current pace of economic growth and continue working towards greater self-reliance and economic strength.

He urged citizens to support the idea of Swadeshi and reduce unnecessary spending abroad, including foreign holidays and weddings overseas. He also advised people to avoid buying gold unless it is necessary.

Focus on Self-Reliance and Youth

Modi linked India’s economic progress with the aspirations of the country’s young population, saying sustained growth and hard work would help realise their dreams of a developed India by the centenary of Independence.

He also said that India’s growth has continued despite attempts to spread negativity and misinformation.

Economy Shows Resilience

India’s economy grew 7.8% in the April-June quarter of FY 2026-27, outperforming expectations and demonstrating resilience amid global economic challenges.

While growth was lower than the 8.6% recorded in the previous quarter, the latest figures remain strong against the backdrop of geopolitical tensions and disruptions in global energy and supply chains.
