Ajit Kumar Gets Six-Month Extension as MyGov CEO

Ajit Kumar, IAS (KL:2006), has received a six-month extension in his additional charge as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MyGov. He will continue to handle the responsibility alongside his existing role as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

The extension has been approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) on the proposal of MeitY.

Extension Effective from May 2026


According to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) order issued on August 20, 2026, Ajit Kumar’s additional charge as MyGov CEO has been extended for another six months from May 24, 2026.

His tenure will continue until the appointment of a regular incumbent or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Ajit Kumar to Continue with MeitY Responsibilities

Ajit Kumar will continue to serve as Joint Secretary, MeitY, while also overseeing the functioning of MyGov.

The arrangement allows the government’s citizen-engagement platform to continue under existing leadership while the appointment of a regular CEO remains pending.

Additional Charge of MyGov CEO

Ajit Kumar has been handling the additional responsibility of MyGov CEO in addition to his regular duties at MeitY.

His continuation provides administrative stability for the platform, which facilitates citizen participation, government communication and public engagement through digital channels.

MyGov plays an important role in connecting citizens with government initiatives and providing platforms for public participation and engagement.

Ajit Kumar to Continue Until Regular Appointment

With the latest ACC approval, Ajit Kumar will continue as CEO, MyGov, on an additional-charge basis for six months from May 24, 2026, or until a regular incumbent is appointed or further orders are issued.
