The Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) has appointed Javvadi V. N. Subramanyam (IAS) as the Government Nominee Director on its Board. The appointment came into effect on July 24, 2026, following approval by the company’s Board of Directors at its meeting held the same day.
Subramanyam currently serves as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and will remain on the IREDA Board until the three vacant Functional Director positions are filled or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Strengthening IREDA’s Leadership
The appointment adds an experienced administrator to IREDA’s Board at a time when the organisation continues to play a key role in financing India’s renewable energy projects.
As Government Nominee Director, Subramanyam will represent the interests of the Government of India on the Board and contribute to strategic decision-making related to the company’s operations, governance and long-term growth.
Extensive Experience in Public Administration
An Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer with more than 18 years of administrative experience, Subramanyam has worked across both the Central and State governments in diverse sectors, including renewable energy, public finance, industrial development, infrastructure, healthcare and governance.
He is currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, where he is associated with policy initiatives aimed at accelerating India’s clean energy transition.
Before joining MNRE, he served as Director in the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, where he handled financial market policy and international economic engagements.
Held Several Key Leadership Positions
During his career, Subramanyam has held several important administrative assignments. These include serving as:
- Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (APIIC)
- Commissioner of Industries, Andhra Pradesh
- Chief Executive Officer, Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board
- Mission Director, National Health Mission, Assam
- Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate, Goalpara, Assam
His experience spans industrial development, investment promotion, healthcare administration and public policy implementation.

Strong Academic and Professional Credentials
Subramanyam is a Chartered Accountant and Cost Accountant, having secured the All India First Rank in his professional examinations.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, a Master’s degree in Public Policy, and has completed the prestigious Chevening Gurukul Fellowship in Leadership at King’s College London.
Over the years, he has also received several national and state-level recognitions for excellence in public administration, innovation and governance.
