The Bihar government, led by Samrat Choudhary, on Sunday carried out a major bureaucratic reshuffle, transferring 12 senior IAS officers and assigning them to key administrative departments across the state.

The reshuffle includes important changes in departments such as Health, Finance, Tourism, Disaster Management, Social Welfare, Energy and Building Construction. The administrative exercise also saw senior officers Kumar Ravi and Chandrashekhar Singh moved out of the Chief Minister’s Office.

According to the notification issued by the General Administration Department, several experienced officers have been assigned crucial governance responsibilities.

Key appointments and transfers include:

  • H R Srinivas appointed as Additional Chief Secretary, Social Welfare Department
  • Santosh Kumar Mall was posted as Principal Secretary, Disaster Management Department
  • Lokesh Kumar Singh appointed Secretary, Tourism Department. He has also been given additional charge of the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Department of Science, Technology and Technical Education
  • Kumar Ravi posted as Secretary, Health Department
  • Ajay Yadav appointed Secretary, Energy Department
  • Sanjay Kumar Singh given full charge as Secretary, Finance Department
  • Pranav Kumar appointed Secretary, Building Construction Department
  • Manoj Kumar Singh posted as Resident Commissioner, Bihar Bhawan, New Delhi
  • Chandrashekhar Singh appointed Secretary, Water Resources Department

As part of the reshuffle, Anand Kishor has been relieved of the additional charge of Additional Chief Secretary, Finance Department.

Officials said one of the most significant aspects of the reshuffle is the restructuring of the Chief Minister’s Office, with Kumar Ravi and Chandrashekhar Singh being shifted out and Lokesh Kumar Singh taking on additional responsibilities in the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.

Alongside the IAS transfers, the Bihar government also recently reshuffled 16 IPS officers to strengthen policing and law enforcement across the state.

Key IPS appointments include:

  • Sudhanshu Kumar appointed Additional Director General (Law and Order)
  • Nirmal Kumar Azad was posted as Director General (Training)
  • Amit Kumar Jain appointed ADG, Economic Offences Unit
  • Nayyar Hasnain Khan posted as ADG, Bihar Special Armed Police
  • Amit Lodha appointed ADG, Wireless and Technical Services
  • Amrit Raj posted as ADG, Cybercrime-cum-Security Unit

The reshuffle is being viewed as part of the Bihar government’s broader effort to strengthen governance, improve departmental coordination and enhance administrative efficiency in key sectors including health, finance, welfare, infrastructure and law enforcement.
