The Bihar government on Sunday carried out a major reshuffle of 16 IPS officers across key police and administrative departments, aiming to strengthen law and order, cyber security, training and specialised policing units across the state.

According to the Home Department notification, several important wings, including Law and Order, CID, Cyber Crime, Railways, Technical Services and Bihar Special Armed Police, have received new leadership under the latest administrative changes.

Among the major appointments, Vikas Vaibhav has been posted as Inspector General of Magadh Zone, Gaya. He was earlier serving as Adviser to the Bihar State Planning Board and is expected to play an important role in strengthening policing in the region.

Senior IPS officer Sudhanshu Kumar, a 1996-batch officer, has been appointed as Additional Director General (Law and Order), one of the most crucial positions in Bihar Police. He was previously serving as ADG of the State Crime Records Bureau and Modernisation.

Other key transfers and appointments include:

  • Paresh Saxena promoted as Director General, Civil Defence
  • Nirmal Kumar Azad appointed Director General (Training)
  • Amit Kumar Jain posted as ADG, Economic Offences Unit
  • Nayyar Hasnain Khan appointed ADG, Bihar Special Armed Police
  • Amit Lodha transferred as ADG, Wireless and Technical Services
  • Amrit Raj appointed ADG, Cyber Crime-cum-Security Unit
  • K S Anupam posted as ADG (Weaker Sections), CID
  • Ranjit Kumar Mishra transferred to CID
  • Sanjay Kumar appointed IG, Special Branch
  • Kamal Kishore Singh posted as ADG (Railways)
  • Ajitabh Kumar was assigned charge of State Crime Records Bureau and Modernisation
  • Sanjay Singh transferred to Budget, Appeals and Welfare
  • P Kannan moved as IG (Provisioning)

Officials said the reshuffle is part of the Bihar government’s broader effort to improve operational efficiency, strengthen internal security mechanisms and enhance administrative coordination across policing units in the state.
