Parmar brings with him extensive experience in railway finance, statistics, and corporate financial management. His appointment comes as Indian Railways is undertaking one of its largest-ever capital expenditure (CAPEX) programmes, focused on modernization, safety upgrades, and infrastructure expansion.

Officials believe his expertise will help streamline financial approvals and improve efficiency in managing large-scale projects.

Key Role in Major Projects

In his new role, Parmar will be responsible for overseeing financial evaluation and approvals for critical railway projects, including new rail lines, track doubling, electrification, and station redevelopment initiatives such as the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.

He will also play a vital role in ensuring that expenditure aligns with budgetary provisions and financial discipline is maintained across the system.

Focus on Policy and Accountability

Beyond project approvals, Parmar will contribute to shaping financial policies that govern expenditure across all zonal railways. His role will include monitoring spending, scrutinizing procurement processes, and ensuring transparency in the use of public funds.

Strategic Appointment at a Crucial Time

His transition from a major PSU role back to the Railway Board is seen as a strategic step to bring corporate financial expertise into the administrative framework of Indian Railways.
