Haryana’s ambitious plan to strengthen its rail infrastructure is picking up pace, with several major projects reaching important milestones across the state. Spearheaded by the Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (HRIDC), the initiative is set to transform connectivity, especially across key industrial regions and the NCR.

At a recent board meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi, officials reviewed the rapid progress of ongoing projects. One of the biggest highlights is the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor (HORC), whose revised cost has been approved at ₹11,709 crore—more than double its earlier estimate. The corridor is expected to connect major industrial hubs like Kharkhoda, Manesar, and Sohna, making freight movement faster and more efficient while opening doors for new townships.

On the ground, work is moving swiftly. Tunnel construction under the project has already crossed 60%, with over 4.3 km excavated using advanced tunnelling techniques. Construction is being carried out simultaneously from multiple points, reflecting the urgency and scale of the project.

A major hurdle has also been cleared on the regulatory front. All key environmental and forest approvals have now been secured, including the crucial Aravalli clearance. This clears the way for uninterrupted progress in the coming months.

Land acquisition, often one of the most challenging aspects of infrastructure projects, has also seen significant progress. Around 85% of the compensation has already been disbursed across five districts, with Gurugram and Nuh leading the way. This indicates smooth coordination between authorities and stakeholders.

Meanwhile, the Kurukshetra Elevated Track is almost ready for commissioning. With construction and technical work completed, the project is expected to be operational soon after final safety inspections. The new Thanesar railway station is also nearing completion, adding to the region’s improved connectivity.

Another key development is the progress of the Eastern Orbital Rail Corridor, where surveys and mapping have been completed, and the final feasibility report is expected shortly.

Together, these projects signal a major shift in Haryana’s infrastructure landscape. With faster execution, better planning, and strong coordination, the state is steadily positioning itself as a key logistics and industrial hub.

As these rail corridors take shape, they are not just about tracks and trains—they represent smoother movement of goods, better connectivity for people, and new opportunities for economic growth across the region.
