Jaipur Metro

In a major boost to urban mobility, the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved Jaipur Metro Phase-2, a 41-kilometre-long North–South corridor that promises to reshape how the city moves.

The project, estimated at ₹13,037.66 crore, will connect Prahladpura to Todi Mod through 36 stations, covering some of Jaipur’s most important residential, commercial, and industrial areas. It will be implemented by Rajasthan Metro Rail Corporation Limited (RMRCL), a joint venture between the Government of India and the Government of Rajasthan.

Designed to make daily travel smoother and faster, the new corridor will link key hubs such as Sitapura Industrial Area, VKI Area, Jaipur Airport, Tonk Road, SMS Hospital, Ambabari, and Vidhyadhar Nagar. Underground stations are also planned in the airport zone, ensuring efficient land use and seamless passenger experience.

One of the most important aspects of Phase-2 is its integration with the existing Phase-1 corridor. With planned interchanges and feeder systems, commuters will be able to travel across the city through a unified metro network without disruptions.

Currently, Jaipur Metro Phase-1 serves around 60,000 passengers daily on its 11.64 km stretch. With the expansion, ridership is expected to grow significantly, encouraging more people to shift from private vehicles to public transport.

Beyond convenience, the project carries larger benefits for the city. Reduced traffic congestion, lower pollution levels, and improved connectivity are expected to enhance the overall quality of urban life. It also supports Jaipur’s long-term vision of becoming a more sustainable and well-connected city.

As work progresses, the focus will be on timely execution and ensuring that the metro system meets the needs of a growing population. Jaipur Metro Phase-2 is not just an infrastructure project—it’s a step towards a more accessible, efficient, and future-ready urban transport system.
