Senior administrator and former police officer R. N. Ravi has been appointed as the new Governor of West Bengal following a gubernatorial reshuffle announced by President Droupadi Murmu.

Ravi succeeds Dr. C. V. Ananda Bose, who recently stepped down from the post. The appointment marks an important leadership change at the Raj Bhavan in Kolkata.
Transition from Tamil Nadu

Before this appointment, R. N. Ravi was serving as the Governor of Tamil Nadu, a position he assumed in September 2021. Following his transfer, the Governor of Kerala, R. V. Arlekar, will handle the additional responsibility of the Tamil Nadu governorship until further arrangements are made.

Long Career in Security and Administration
Born in April 1952 in Bihar, Ravi is a former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Kerala cadre. Over the course of his career, he has gained extensive experience in national security, intelligence, and governance.

He served as Chairman of the Joint Intelligence Committee in 2014 and later took on the role of Deputy National Security Advisor in 2018. During this period, he was also appointed as the central government’s interlocutor for peace talks with the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN), playing an important role in negotiations related to the Naga peace process.
