In a fresh administrative reshuffle, the President of India Droupadi Murmu has appointed Kavinder Gupta as the new Governor of Himachal Pradesh, while the current Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla has been transferred to Telangana.
The move is part of a broader gubernatorial reshuffle carried out by the central government to bring administrative continuity and leadership changes across states.
Kavinder Gupta to Lead Raj Bhavan in Himachal Pradesh
Kavinder Gupta, who previously served as the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, will now take charge as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh. With long experience in public life and governance, Gupta is expected to bring administrative expertise to the Raj Bhavan in Shimla.
Over the years, he has held several key positions, including Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. His appointment reflects the government’s decision to place experienced leaders in important constitutional roles.
Shiv Pratap Shukla Moves to Telangana
Meanwhile, Shiv Pratap Shukla, who has been serving as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh, has now been appointed as the Governor of Telangana.
Shukla has had a long political career and previously served as Union Minister of State for Finance and a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha. His transfer to Telangana marks another step in the government’s effort to reorganise gubernatorial responsibilities across states.
Administrative Reshuffle
Such appointments and transfers are periodically undertaken to strengthen governance and ensure smooth functioning of constitutional offices. With the latest changes, both Himachal Pradesh and Telangana will soon see new gubernatorial leadership as the appointed officials formally assume their roles.
