Noida International Airport Phase I

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate Phase I of the Noida International Airport on March 28 in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, marking a major milestone in India’s aviation and infrastructure journey.

During his visit, the Prime Minister will tour the newly built terminal and later formally inaugurate the airport, followed by addressing a public gathering.

A Major Step for India’s Aviation Growth

Developed at an estimated cost of ₹11,200 crore, the Noida International Airport is one of India’s largest greenfield airport projects. It is designed to serve as a key international gateway for the Delhi-NCR region, complementing the existing Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Together, both airports are expected to reduce congestion, improve passenger handling, and strengthen the region’s position as a global aviation hub.

Capacity and Modern Infrastructure

In its first phase, the airport will handle 12 million passengers annually, with plans to scale up to 70 million passengers per year in future expansions.

The airport features a 3,900-metre-long runway, capable of handling wide-body aircraft. It is equipped with advanced systems like:

  • Instrument Landing System (ILS)
  • Modern airfield lighting
  • 24×7 all-weather operational capability

These features will ensure smooth and efficient flight operations throughout the year.

Cargo and Logistics Hub

Beyond passenger services, the airport is also being developed as a major cargo and logistics hub. The integrated cargo terminal will initially handle over 2.5 lakh metric tonnes annually, with expansion capacity up to 18 lakh metric tonnes.

The project also includes a 40-acre Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility, which is expected to support aviation services and generate employment.

Sustainable and Future-Ready Design

The Noida International Airport has been designed with sustainability at its core. It aims to operate as a net-zero emissions airport, incorporating energy-efficient systems and environmentally responsible practices.

Its architecture blends modern design with Indian cultural elements, drawing inspiration from traditional ghats and havelis, giving the airport a unique identity.

Strategic Location and Connectivity

Located along the Yamuna Expressway, the airport is planned as a multi-modal transport hub. It will be seamlessly connected through road, rail, metro, and regional transit systems, making travel easier for passengers and boosting regional economic activity.
