RINL Appoints Dr. Rakesh Nandan Sahay as Director (Personnel), Strengthening HR Leadership

Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) has appointed Dr. Rakesh Nandan Sahay as Director (Personnel), effective February 9, 2026. With more than 29 years of experience in human resources and organizational leadership, Dr. Sahay is expected to play a key role in strengthening the company’s workforce strategy and HR systems.

Prior to joining RINL, Dr. Sahay held senior HR leadership roles at NTPC and its joint ventures with IOC, CIL, and various State Governments. Over the years, he has overseen HR functions for large greenfield and brownfield projects and contributed to major project transitions and takeovers across thermal, hydro, gas, and mining sectors.

His expertise spans industrial relations, organizational development, employee engagement, leadership development, and change management. He has also been involved in strengthening HR frameworks in national-level institutions, making him well-positioned to guide RINL during a phase of strategic and operational transformation.


Strong Academic and Professional Credentials

Dr. Sahay is a Gold Medallist in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations from Xavier Institute of Social Service, Ranchi, and holds a PhD in Commerce and Management. He also possesses academic qualifications in Economics and Law (LLB & LLM), along with multiple leadership development certifications.

He is a Life Member of the National HRD Network and the Administrative Staff College of India. Among his professional recognitions are the AIMA Best Young Manager Award (2021) and the AIMA National HR Quiz Winner (2005).

A Passion for Sports

Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Sahay is an active sports enthusiast. He has represented MECON, Ranchi University, Ranchi District, and NTPC Cricket Teams in national-level tournaments. He was a semi-finalist in the Rohinton Baria Trophy (1994–95) and continues to participate in All India PSU and office cricket leagues.

RINL stated that Dr. Sahay’s appointment comes at a crucial juncture as the company focuses on operational efficiency, workforce development, and organizational alignment. His leadership is expected to reinforce human resource management practices and support the company’s broader strategic objectives.
