The Government of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday ordered the transfer and posting of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers in the interest of administration, with immediate effect.
The decision was issued through Circular No. 01-JK(GAD) of 2026, dated January 7, 2026, by the General Administration Department (GAD).
Shubhankar Pratyush Pathak Posted to LG Secretariat
As per the official order, Shubhankar Pratyush Pathak, IAS (AGMUT: 2022), who was serving as Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Uri, has been transferred and posted as Additional Secretary in the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat.
His new assignment places him in an important administrative position at the Raj Bhavan, strengthening the functioning of the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat and supporting higher-level coordination within the Union Territory’s governance framework.
Prince Kumar Appointed SDM Uri
In a related development, Prince Kumar, IAS (AGMUT: 2023), who was earlier posted as Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Kokernag, has been transferred and posted as Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Uri.
The official order states:
“Mr. Prince Kumar, IAS (AGMUT: 2023), Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Kokernag, is transferred and posted as Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Uri vice Mr. Shubhankar Pratyush Pathak, IAS.”
Administrative Rationale
The government clarified that the transfers have been carried out in the interest of administration, a routine measure aimed at ensuring administrative efficiency and smooth governance. The order takes effect immediately, and the officers concerned have been directed to assume charge of their new assignments without delay.
The reshuffle reflects the administration’s continued focus on strengthening institutional capacity and ensuring effective service delivery across the Union Territory.
