The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved a two-year extension of the central deputation of IAS officer Dr Kajal, currently serving as Director in the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
According to an official notification issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Dr Kajal’s tenure has been extended from April 13, 2026, to April 12, 2028, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Her deputation was earlier scheduled to conclude on April 12, 2026.
Dr Kajal is a 2008-batch IAS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre. She has been on central deputation since April 13, 2021, and has been serving as Director at DPIIT since January 2023. The extension follows a proposal from DPIIT and is aimed at ensuring continuity in key policy initiatives related to industrial development and internal trade.
A medical professional turned civil servant, Dr Kajal brings a combination of technical expertise and administrative experience. During her tenure at DPIIT, she has been associated with efforts to strengthen India’s industrial ecosystem, support entrepreneurship, and advance internal trade policies.
Before joining the Centre, she held several important assignments in Uttar Pradesh. These include serving as Director of Local Bodies between 2018 and 2021, where she handled urban governance and municipal administration, and as Special Secretary in the Basic Education Department.
