Vivek Bhimanwar

The Maharashtra government on Monday appointed Transport Commissioner Vivek Bhimanwar as the new Chairperson of the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC).

The appointment places Bhimanwar at the helm of the state’s top recruitment body, which is responsible for conducting examinations and selecting candidates for various Group A and Group B posts across government departments.

With extensive administrative experience, Bhimanwar is expected to oversee key recruitment processes, examination schedules and institutional reforms aimed at improving transparency, efficiency and timely completion of selection cycles.

The Maharashtra Public Service Commission plays a crucial role in staffing departments such as revenue, police, public works, education and finance. Its functioning directly impacts the availability of skilled officers for the state administration.

An official associated with the decision said, “The government has entrusted an experienced officer with the responsibility of strengthening the recruitment framework and maintaining the credibility of the Commission.”
