REC Limited has incorporated two new wholly owned subsidiary companies to execute intra-state power transmission projects in Maharashtra, the company said on Saturday.

The newly formed subsidiaries are Ambernath Power Transmission Limited and Balsane Power Transmission Limited. Both entities have been incorporated to develop and implement specific transmission projects within the state, in line with REC’s expanding role in the power infrastructure segment.

According to officials, the move is aimed at strengthening project execution and enabling focused management of individual transmission assets. The subsidiaries will undertake planning, development, and implementation of the identified intra-state transmission systems.

REC has been increasingly involved in the power transmission space, in addition to its core financing operations, supporting central and state-level grid expansion projects. The creation of project-specific subsidiaries is part of a structured approach to improve efficiency, compliance, and timely delivery.

An official aware of the development said, “Setting up dedicated subsidiaries allows better project monitoring and smoother coordination with state utilities and other stakeholders.”

With the incorporation completed, the new companies are expected to proceed with statutory clearances and preparatory activities, paving the way for execution of the transmission projects in Maharashtra.
