Madhya Pradesh has taken a significant step toward integrating advanced technology with agriculture by initiating discussions with global AI-based protein innovation company Shiru during the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2026 in Davos.
The state’s Principal Secretary for Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion, Raghvendra Kumar Singh, held a detailed meeting with Dr. Jasmine Hume, CEO and Founder of Shiru, to explore collaboration opportunities that could strengthen Madhya Pradesh’s agri-food and research ecosystem.
Leveraging AI for Next-Generation Protein Solutions
Shiru is recognized worldwide for its cutting-edge AI-powered platform that discovers and designs high-quality proteins for food, healthcare, and cosmetic applications. The company uses advanced machine learning tools to identify sustainable and scalable protein ingredients that can replace traditional animal-based or synthetic alternatives.
Officials said Shiru’s portfolio consists of nearly 77 percent natural proteins, and the company has developed efficient technology-licensing models that support cost-effective, large-scale production.
During the discussions, Dr. Hume explained how Shiru’s innovations could be applied to create healthier, sustainable food products while also addressing global nutrition and sustainability challenges.
Interest in Madhya Pradesh’s Agricultural Strengths
Shiru expressed strong interest in Madhya Pradesh’s diverse and robust agricultural base, which includes a wide range of crops that could serve as valuable inputs for protein innovation.
Both sides explored possibilities of:
-
Using local crops as raw material for protein research
-
Partnering with state universities and agricultural institutes
-
Launching pilot projects and applied research programmes
-
Developing the state as a future manufacturing hub for protein technologies
Officials said the state’s strong farming ecosystem, combined with scientific research capacity, makes Madhya Pradesh a promising destination for such high-tech collaborations.
Agreed Roadmap for Future Collaboration
To take the discussions forward, a structured action plan was outlined. The next steps include:
-
Identifying suitable universities and research institutions in Madhya Pradesh
-
Studying the availability and suitability of local crops for protein innovation
-
Exploring pilot projects and contract manufacturing possibilities
-
Planning follow-up meetings to shape commercial and research partnerships
Boost to Innovation and Investment
The engagement with Shiru forms part of Madhya Pradesh’s broader strategy to attract technology-driven investments and position itself as a hub for advanced life sciences and agri-tech innovation.
By combining global expertise with local resources, the state hopes to generate new opportunities in high-value agriculture, food processing, and biotechnology.
Officials believe such collaborations can create jobs, promote research, and add value to the state’s agricultural produce while supporting sustainable development.
Vision for the Future
The discussions at WEF 2026 highlight Madhya Pradesh’s focus on building global partnerships that bring modern technology to traditional sectors like agriculture.
