Bihar is set to enter a new phase of large-scale development with the state government announcing 10 major infrastructure projects to be completed by 2026. The projects span key sectors including roads, bridges, healthcare, renewable energy, education and urban infrastructure, and are aimed at improving connectivity, strengthening public services and attracting fresh investment.
Officials said the programme is designed not only to build physical infrastructure but also to create employment opportunities, boost tourism and position Bihar as a more competitive destination for industry and business.
Major Push for Roads and Bridges
Among the flagship projects is the Kacchi Dargah–Bidupur six-lane bridge over the Ganga, which is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion in Patna while strengthening links between North and South Bihar. Another key project, the Bakhtiyarpur–Tajpur bridge, will further improve cross-river connectivity and support trade movement.
Bihar’s first access-controlled expressway between Amas and Darbhanga will provide faster and safer travel across the state. Officials believe the expressway will also strengthen logistics, encourage industrial growth and attract private investment.
The Gaya–Biharsharif four-lane road will enhance connectivity between important religious, educational and industrial centres, giving a boost to tourism and regional commerce.
Strengthening Healthcare Infrastructure
To reduce dependence on hospitals in other states, Bihar is building the Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan Super-Specialty Hospital in Patna, which will have 400 advanced beds to treat complex medical cases locally.
New medical colleges in Madhubani and Bhojpur will expand access to quality medical education and strengthen healthcare services in the region.
Green Energy and Sustainable Growth
The Kajra Solar Energy Project (Phase I) is expected to play a key role in increasing power generation while supporting Bihar’s transition to renewable energy. The project aims to improve energy availability and reduce the state’s dependence on conventional power sources.
Agriculture, Urban Development and Public Welfare
Projects such as the Kamla Barrage will strengthen irrigation infrastructure and support agricultural productivity. The Jaynagar Railway Overbridge will improve traffic flow and reduce congestion in the town.
Urban development initiatives across Patna and other cities will upgrade sewerage systems, roads, water supply networks and smart city infrastructure, helping improve living conditions and support long-term urban growth.

The government plans to monitor project execution closely to ensure timely completion and effective delivery of public benefits.
