The Gujarat government has drafted a new cybersecurity framework to enhance the protection of digital infrastructure and sensitive data across government departments. The draft was finalised on December 17, 2025, and will now be reviewed before implementation.

The framework outlines standards and protocols for securing government networks, applications, and databases. It also includes guidelines for incident response, risk assessment, and data protection to address increasing cyber threats.
Officials said the new draft seeks to align state systems with emerging technology trends and strengthen resilience against cyberattacks. The framework proposes regular security audits, mandatory training for IT personnel, and stricter access controls for critical systems.

The draft also recommends setting up a central monitoring unit within the state’s information technology department to oversee cybersecurity operations and coordinate responses to breaches.

A senior official involved in drafting the framework said, “The aim is to build a robust cybersecurity posture for government networks while ensuring data integrity and continuity of services.”
The government will now circulate the draft framework among stakeholders for review and feedback. After consultations, the framework is expected to be formally adopted and rolled out across departments early next year.
