In a historic political development, Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar for an unprecedented tenth term, reaffirming his long-standing influence over the state’s political landscape. The oath-taking ceremony, held on Thursday at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, was administered by Governor Arif Mohammed Khan in the presence of senior leaders, officials, and party workers.
Alongside Kumar, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha took oath as Deputy Chief Ministers, marking the beginning of the newly constituted National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in the state.
26-Member Cabinet Sworn In
The swearing-in ceremony also witnessed the induction of a 26-member Council of Ministers, reflecting the coalition’s power-sharing structure. The new cabinet brings together a wide representation from key NDA constituents:
- 14 ministers from BJP
- 8 ministers from JD(U)
- 2 ministers from Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas)
- 1 each from Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha
The cabinet formation indicates an effort to balance political equations while ensuring representation from diverse regions and communities across Bihar.
