The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has honoured the Government of Assam with the Integration Excellence Award for successfully integrating over 500 citizen services with the DigiLocker platform, marking a significant step forward in digital governance and public service delivery. The recognition was presented during the National Conference on DigiLocker held today (4th November) in New Delhi, where Assam was acknowledged as one of the top-performing states in advancing digital transformation.

Assam’s Principal Secretary (Information Technology), K. S. Gopinath Narayan, received the award on behalf of the state, underscoring the IT Department’s commitment to enabling secure, paperless, and citizen-centric governance. The initiative reflects Assam’s sustained efforts to simplify access to government services through robust digital infrastructure, while promoting transparency and operational efficiency across departments.

The DigiLocker integration now enables citizens in Assam to access and store verified documents and certificates — including educational records, identity proofs, licenses, and land records — directly within the platform. This digital access reduces reliance on physical paperwork and ensures faster, more reliable interactions between citizens and government agencies.

Speaking at the event, S. Krishnan, Secretary, MeitY, commended leading states like Assam for driving digital public infrastructure and integrating critical citizen services that benefit millions. He emphasised DigiLocker’s expanding role as a cornerstone of citizen-centric governance and its growing adoption across sectors such as education, fintech, and government-to-citizen service delivery.

The recognition of Assam’s achievement highlights the state’s growing prominence in India’s digital governance landscape. By integrating over 500 services, the Government of Assam has streamlined access to essential public services and reinforced its commitment to inclusive, efficient, and transparent e-governance.

This milestone places Assam among India’s frontrunners in digital transformation, reflecting the state’s forward-looking approach under the Digital India mission — where technology serves as an enabler of citizen empowerment and administrative excellence.

Meanwhile, the neighbouring state of Assam — the Government of Meghalaya — has also been honoured with the ‘Dual Platform Achiever’ recognition by the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) for successfully integrating its systems with both the DigiLocker and EntityLocker platforms. This achievement underscores the northeastern region’s growing leadership in strengthening India’s digital public infrastructure and promoting secure, interoperable, and citizen-friendly governance.

These included Integration Excellence, People First Integration (Family ID), Innovation – Paperless Governance, Fast Track Integration, Dual Platform Achiever (DigiLocker + EntityLocker), and Requestor Accreditation, celebrating the outstanding efforts of states and organizations in advancing secure, paperless, and citizen-centric service delivery across India.

The National Conference on DigiLocker brought together policymakers, technologists, and innovators from across India to deliberate on strategies for scaling the platform’s applications, strengthening interoperability, and accelerating the vision of Digital India
