The future of mobility took centre stage at the Elets National Mobility Summit & Awards 2025, organised by Elets Technomedia in collaboration with the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) as the host partner and eGov Magazine as the knowledge partner. The day-long summit, supported by the Association of State Road Transport Undertakings (ASRTU), was held on 4 September at GIFT City, Gandhinagar, and brought together policymakers, industry leaders, innovators, and academics under the theme “Accelerating Future Mobility: Green, Integrated and Digitally Driven.”

The summit opened with a strong note from Dr Ravi Gupta, Founder, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of Elets Technomedia, who underlined the organisation’s long-standing commitment to enabling dialogue on governance and technology. “For over two decades, Elets has been creating platforms that bring together policymakers, industry leaders, academia, and research organisations to deliberate on opportunities and challenges in using technology to drive innovation across governance sectors. With a legacy of working closely with nearly 20 state governments and more than 500 government departments, we have continuously curated conferences that enable meaningful dialogue, knowledge exchange, and collaboration. Today, we look forward to carrying this journey forward as we collectively explore the future of mobility for India,” he said.

The programme chair address was delivered by Shri M. Nagarajan, IAS, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of GSRTC, who spoke of the evolving aspirations of Indian commuters and the need for transformation in public transport. “The National Mobility Summit was envisioned as a platform to explore futuristic opportunities in the transport sector. As our Hon’ble Transport Minister Shri Harsh Sanghvi Ji has always guided us, the focus must remain on delivering better services, enhanced amenities, improved connectivity, and world-class facilities for citizens, while keeping them affordable and accessible. Citizens today expect comfort, premium services, seamless travel, and integrated urban mobility. With this vision, we have brought together leading policymakers, industry experts, and innovators on one platform to deliberate on critical themes, including asset monetisation, non-fare revenue models, and next-generation mobility solutions,” he remarked, adding that such forums also give state transport undertakings an opportunity to share best practices and build stronger collaborations across the country.

Shri R. C. Meena, IAS, Principal Secretary, Ports and Transport Department, Government of Gujarat, struck a strong note of Gujarat’s leadership in transport. “The National Mobility Summit is more than just an event, it is a powerful testament to our shared commitment to shaping the future of mobility in India. A future that is inclusive, sustainable, digitally connected, and globally competitive. Gujarat has always been a trailblazer in transportation and logistics, empowered by its robust industrial ecosystem, strategic geographical location, and forward-thinking governance model. Every single day, GSRTC carries more than 27 lakh passengers safely and efficiently across urban, semi-urban, and rural landscapes. Under the visionary leadership of our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Hon’ble Chief Minister, and our dynamic Transport & Home Minister, Gujarat has rolled out several transformative measures. From introducing electric and CNG-powered buses to reducing carbon footprints, we are making mobility cleaner, greener, and more future-ready,” he said in his keynote address.

Adding weight to the occasion, Shri H. D. Kumaraswamy, Hon’ble Minister of Heavy Industries, Government of India, shared a special video message. He congratulated GSRTC and Elets Technomedia for hosting the summit and reaffirmed the ministry’s focus on sustainable mobility. “India’s ongoing mobility revolution, powered by clean energy, intelligent transport, and AI innovations, will position our country as a global hub for sustainable mobility. The Ministry of Heavy Industries remains committed to advancing electric mobility, green technologies, and resilient auto ecosystems to build a climate-resilient and digitally empowered future,” he said, stressing the importance of integrated, AI-powered, and green mobility solutions.

The summit was marked by a major milestone in the form of a memorandum of understanding signed between GSRTC and the State Bank of India (SBI). The agreement, signed in the presence of Shri Balaji Kumar Singhsamanta, Chief General Manager, SBI Gandhinagar Circle, Shri Mithilesh, DGM/RCWM, SBI, and Shri Kashyap Dabi, GM, GSRTC, is aimed at boosting innovation, efficiency, and financial sustainability in Gujarat’s public transport network. Shri Sujit Kumar Tiwari, DGM, Digital & Transaction Banking, SBI Gandhinagar Circle, noted that SBI’s green financing portfolio already exceeds ₹63,000 crore and the bank is targeting a 7.5 per cent share by 2030, with green deposits having crossed ₹125 crore. “Through such efforts, SBI is committed to powering India’s sustainable transport transformation,” he said.

The summit also saw the unveiling of a special edition of eGov Magazine titled “Gujarat Driving India’s Green Mobility Revolution.” The magazine, launched in the presence of dignitaries including Shri R. C. Meena, Shri M. Nagarajan, Shri Ch. D. Tirumala Rao, IPS (R), Shri Ved Prakash, IRTS, Shri Balaji Kumar Singhsamanta, and Dr Ravi Gupta, highlights Gujarat’s pioneering initiatives in green mobility and sustainable infrastructure, and positions the state as a benchmark for others to follow.

Another highlight was the presentation of the Elets National Mobility Awards 2025, which recognised outstanding contributions to the mobility sector across both public and private domains. The awards celebrated organisations and initiatives that have driven innovation, sustainability, and inclusivity in transport.

Industry partners played a crucial role in making the event a success, with strong participation from leading companies including SBI, Tata Motors, ChargeZone, JSL, AMNEX, Metrix, Cube Construction, Volvo and BillionE. Deepak Kumar Singh, Sales Head at BillionE, outlined how the company is contributing to the green mobility shift. “BillionE is accelerating India’s green transition with renewable energy, battery swapping solutions, and India’s largest B2B EV charging network of 13,500 stations. Our integrated E-MaaS platform ensures seamless mobility services while decarbonising goods transport across the country,” he said.

Similarly, Shamik Joshi, Head PreSales, Mobility & Payments, Amnex, highlighted the gaps that still exist in India’s transport landscape. “India has mobility solutions, but they are rarely seamless. Multiple modes exist but they don’t work in sync. Our mission is to bridge this gap and ensure India’s mobility ecosystem glides effortlessly, just like Gujarat’s integrated approach to transport,” he observed.

The sessions at the summit ranged from EV charging infrastructure and AI-powered fleet management to freight-passenger balance, safety culture, and seamless interconnectivity. Discussions on digital ticketing, asset monetisation, and non-fare revenue models attracted significant attention from both policymakers and industry players, reflecting the growing urgency to create financially sustainable yet citizen-friendly mobility systems.

The Elets National Mobility Summit & Awards 2025 ended on a high note, with delegates agreeing that collaboration between government, industry, and innovators is key to shaping India’s mobility future. The signing of the GSRTC–SBI MoU, the unveiling of the eGov special edition, and the recognition of industry leaders through the Mobility Awards underscored the summit’s role as a milestone event. With Gujarat as the host, the summit showcased the state’s leadership in adopting clean, digital, and future-ready transport models, and reinforced India’s determination to build a green, integrated, and digitally driven mobility ecosystem.
