The Government of India has appointed Mir Mohammed Ali, IAS (Kerala cadre, 2011 batch), as Director in the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) under the Central Staffing Scheme (CSS). In a parallel development, the Government of Kerala has appointed Ali as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the Kerala State Electricity Board Ltd. (KSEB) on a deputation basis, formalised through Government Order No. 99/2025/POWER dated May 7, 2025.

A native of Chennai, Ali holds degrees in electronics engineering and political science and secured All India Rank 59 in the Civil Services Examination. Over his career, he has held several prominent positions, including District Collector of Kannur, where he led the initiative to make the district India’s first plastic-disposable-free zone.

He has also spearheaded projects such as “Map My Home” for modernising land records and “VR Kannur App” to enhance government service accountability. As Director of the State Suchitwa Mission, he oversaw waste management reforms, while his leadership of Kerala’s anti-fake news division saw the launch of the “Satya J Project” to train students and teachers in identifying misinformation.
