In a strategic advancement for India’s digital infrastructure, the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) unveiled the high-capacity SAKSHAM-3000 switch-cum-router at its Delhi campus on July 3, 2025. The launch was officiated by Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development. With an impressive throughput of 25.6 terabits per second, SAKSHAM-3000 marks a significant milestone in India’s journey towards technological self-reliance and global leadership in telecom.

SAKSHAM-3000 is engineered to cater to modern and next-generation digital ecosystems. The compact, energy-efficient platform is designed to meet the demanding requirements of cloud infrastructure, large-scale data centres, AI workloads, and 5G/6G networks. Supporting 32 ports of 400G and multiple Ethernet speeds ranging from 1G to 400G, the device is equipped to function across diverse network roles, including leaf, spine, and super-spine configurations. The product is powered by C-DOT’s modular Router Operating System (CROS), which offers comprehensive support for Layer-2, IP, and MPLS protocols, as well as precision timing via PTP and Sync-E technologies.

During his address, Dr. Sekhar emphasised the national importance of the innovation, describing the work of C-DOT engineers as “not just technical, but nation-building.” Applauding the institution’s role in developing indigenous 4G/5G core technologies, cybersecurity solutions, quantum communications, and disaster management systems, he observed that C-DOT has entered a “phase of delivery, deployment, and global ambition.”

Calling for a transformative mindset, Dr. Sekhar urged engineers to think beyond immediate tasks and plan with a long-term vision. “The ambition must come from within,” he remarked. “Let’s move from success to significance. Let’s build a C-DOT that is trusted not just in India, but across the world.”

Setting a bold vision for the future, he stated, “By 2047, C-DOT should stand shoulder to shoulder with global leaders like Nokia, Ericsson, and Huawei.” The Minister also assured full government support in the form of autonomy, funding, and international collaborations, and encouraged active participation in global standard-setting organisations like 3GPP, ITU, and ETSI.

Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay, CEO of C-DOT, extended heartfelt thanks to the Minister for his encouragement and insights. He reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to advancing the Prime Minister’s vision of AtmaNirbhar Bharat, stating that SAKSHAM-3000 represents C-DOT’s readiness to shape the global telecom narrative.

SAKSHAM-3000, with its robust technical capabilities and future-ready architecture, is poised to serve as a key enabler for India’s digital growth, enterprise connectivity, and global competitiveness in the years ahead.
