Reaffirming his government’s commitment to transparent governance, Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma declared that Rajasthan is moving decisively towards becoming a corruption-free state, guided by a policy of zero tolerance. Speaking at the 68th Foundation Day celebration of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) at the Rajasthan International Centre, the Chief Minister said that corruption erodes public trust, prevents welfare schemes from reaching the last mile, and increases social inequality.
He emphasised that no one, regardless of status or influence, will be exempt from the law. Calling on the police force to discharge their duties with integrity and independence, he assured citizens that his government is committed to safeguarding the aspirations of all 8 crore residents of Rajasthan.
Highlighting the crucial role of the ACB in ensuring clean governance, Shri Sharma acknowledged the bureau’s work in arresting corrupt officials, exposing embezzlement, seizing disproportionate assets, and acting against the misuse of power. He referenced the recent arrest of an Additional Superintendent of Police in a bribery case as a clear example of the government’s unwavering stance against corruption.
As part of its larger vision for good governance, the state government has undertaken several initiatives to reinforce law and order. These include:
- Formation of an Anti-Gangster Task Force
- Recruitment drive for 10,000 new police personnel
- Establishment of Additional SP offices in eight new districts
- Formation of three new women police battalions
- Deployment of 22 interceptors, 750 motorcycles, and 500 mobile units
- Introduction of 500 Kalika Patrolling Teams for faster and more efficient policing
These measures aim to boost public safety, reduce response times, and make policing more visible and responsive across the state.
In addition to bolstering enforcement infrastructure, the Chief Minister outlined various welfare schemes for police personnel. These include the creation of a Police Modernisation and Infrastructure Fund, the establishment of the Sardar Patel Centre for Cyber Control Room, and the upgrading of training facilities such as the Police Telecommunications Training Centre, now renamed the Rajasthan Police Technical Training Academy. Allowance enhancements, free travel on Rajasthan Roadways buses, and improved amenities have also been announced to support the well-being of law enforcement officers.
Shri Sharma informed the audience that during the last 18 months, numerous actions have been taken against corrupt officials. These include:
- Expedited clearances under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act
- Initiation of disciplinary actions and prosecution approvals
- Dismissal of officers involved in serious corruption or unauthorised absences
- Withholding pensions and other departmental penalties alongside legal proceedings
The Chief Minister made a strong appeal to citizens to actively participate in the fight against corruption by reporting incidents without fear, reiterating that public involvement is key to achieving lasting reform.
Chief Secretary Shri Sudhansh Pant added that technological advancements such as e-filing, rule simplification, and public outreach programs are enhancing transparency and accountability in governance. Director General of Police Shri Rajiv Kumar Sharma noted that Rajasthan ranks second in the country for anti-corruption enforcement, and the Chief Minister has empowered police officials to act independently and decisively. The event also saw the unveiling of a new anti-corruption awareness poster, symbolising the state’s enduring resolve against corrupt practices.
