
Jitendra Srivastava, a 2000-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Bihar cadre, has officially taken charge as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of REC Limited, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power. His appointment was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) on April 18, 2025. He joins in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary to the Government of India.
A seasoned bureaucrat with over 20 years of distinguished service, Jitendra Srivastava has held critical positions at both the central and state levels. Most recently, he served as Joint Secretary in the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, where he contributed to key national initiatives from January 2023 onwards. In his earlier roles, he served as Secretary in the Home Department and the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) in the Government of Bihar.
His extensive administrative background spans sectors such as finance, education, public health, power, and infrastructure. This wide-ranging experience is expected to strengthen REC Limited’s strategic vision and further align its operations with India’s growing energy and infrastructure goals.

An alumnus of Hansraj College, Delhi University, Srivastava holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Economics. He also holds an MBA in Finance from Cochin University of Science and Technology.

With a clear focus on bolstering India’s power infrastructure through innovative and inclusive financing, Srivastava’s leadership is set to play a pivotal role in steering REC Limited towards new milestones in the energy sector.
