Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday announced the approval of a ₹4,000-crore development project aimed at transforming the national capital, as part of her ambitious 100-year development model. The announcement was made during the celebration of 120 years of the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI).
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister underscored the importance of strong collaboration between the government and the business community. “I hope that the people of PHDCCI will work together with the Delhi government, which will lead to revenue generation in Delhi and create more employment opportunities,” she stated.
Gupta outlined a comprehensive roadmap, with key focus areas including cleaning the Yamuna River, upgrading education and healthcare systems, enhancing tourism infrastructure, and modernising transportation. “We aim to transform the old image of Delhi and build the city from scratch,” she said.

As part of the broader infrastructure push, CM also revealed that the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) had approved projects worth ₹3,000 crore to further improve the capital’s water and sanitation systems. Drawing from her own business background, CM Gupta acknowledged the challenges faced by industrialists and entrepreneurs due to administrative bottlenecks, policy inconsistencies, and inadequate infrastructure. “Business investments depend on these three factors. If they are in place, industries come. If not, they leave. We must provide all these facilities in the national capital,” she added.

Reiterating her long-term commitment, the Chief Minister emphasised that her government is working on a century-spanning development strategy to make Delhi a model city for sustainable growth and investment.
