In a move to ensure the safety and well-being of devotees attending Mahakumbh 2025 in Prayagraj, the Uttar Pradesh government, under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, has initiated 12 specialized security operations. These measures aim to provide a secure and seamless experience for millions of pilgrims gathering for the grand spiritual event.
The Mahakumbh Police Administration has been working tirelessly to implement comprehensive safety protocols. Following the Chief Minister’s directives, the focus is on creating a foolproof security environment, addressing every potential risk, and maintaining round-the-clock vigilance.
Key Security Operations in Place
Among the 12 security measures, Operation Sweep is designed to detect and address any suspicious individuals or objects within the fairgrounds. Simultaneously, Operation Pehchaan ensures proper identity verification of individuals residing in the Mela area, thereby mitigating potential threats and maintaining a secure environment.
The administration has announced that these initiatives will continue without interruption until February 26, the culmination of Mahakumbh 2025.

- Operation Intercept – Conducting random and surprise checks.

- Operation Chakravyuh – Rigorous monitoring of all entry and exit points.
- Operation Kavach – Surveillance of main intersections for suspicious activities.
- Operation Box – Enhanced security at parking zones.
- Operation Mahavirji – Inspection of pontoon bridges and key locations.
- Operation Virat – Vigilance at prominent pavilions and camps.
- Operation Sangam – Security at bathing ghats and surrounding areas.
- Operation Bazaar – Monitoring markets, shops, and exhibitions.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajesh Dwivedi of Mahakumbh Nagar emphasized the administration’s dedication to ensuring the safety of all visitors. “Our top priority is to guarantee the safety and comfort of devotees from across India and abroad,” he stated.
“The 12 specialized operations are being carried out continuously, as per the directives of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. We are committed to addressing any suspicious activity with stringent measures and maintaining a secure environment for all,” SSP Dwivedi added.
