Senior IPS officer Vineet Vinayak, a 1995-batch officer of the Sikkim cadre, has been appointed as the Additional Director General (ADG) of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). An official order confirming his appointment was issued recently.
With a distinguished career spanning nearly three decades, Vinayak has held several key positions in law enforcement. Before this new appointment, he served as the Central Range DIG in Patna, Bihar, for nine years on state-to-state deputation, where he played a pivotal role in strengthening law and order. He has also served as the Superintendent of Police (SP) in Khagaria and Nalanda and as the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Patna. His leadership in these roles was marked by several high-profile crime investigations and significant improvements in policing strategies.
In addition to his state-level experience, Vinayak has also worked with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in various capacities, handling cases of national importance. His tenure at the CBI saw him lead crucial investigations related to corruption, financial crimes, and high-profile criminal cases. His expertise in intelligence gathering and operations against organized crime syndicates has been widely recognized in law enforcement circles.
Vinayak’s appointment as ADG of NCB is expected to bring strategic insights and operational efficiency to the agency’s mission of combating drug-related offences. With the increasing challenge of narcotics smuggling, synthetic drug proliferation, and international drug syndicates, his leadership will be crucial in strengthening enforcement mechanisms and coordination with other agencies.
His vast experience in both state policing and central investigative agencies positions him well to drive NCB’s efforts in tackling the evolving landscape of narcotics-related crimes. His appointment underscores the government’s focus on bolstering drug enforcement policies and enhancing the agency’s operational framework.
