In a significant development, former Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Prakash Mishra has been appointed as the Advisor to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. The appointment was confirmed through a notification issued by the General Administration & Public Grievance (GA&PG) Department, granting Mishra the rank of a Cabinet Minister.
The notification stated: “No.PT1-GAD-SER1-IAS-0023-2016-3264 /AIS.I., Prakash Mishra, IPS (Retd.) is appointed as Advisor to the Hon’ble Chief Minister in the rank of Cabinet Minister.”
Mishra, a 1977-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, served as Odisha DGP from 2012 to 2014 and retired in 2016 as the Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). During his central deputation, he held key positions, including heading the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), serving in the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and working with the Union Home Ministry.
