The Ministry of Tourism has unveiled a series of initiatives to transform Maha Kumbh 2025 into a global tourism event, highlighting its spiritual and cultural significance. Scheduled to take place in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, from January 13 to February 26, 2025, this grand gathering is expected to draw millions of devotees, pilgrims, and tourists from across the world.
The Maha Kumbh, held every 12 years, represents one of the largest religious congregations globally. The upcoming event provides a unique platform to showcase India’s rich cultural heritage and spiritual traditions, further establishing the country as a premier destination for cultural tourism.

Incredible India Pavilion to Enhance Visitor Experience

A key highlight of the Ministry’s efforts is the establishment of the Incredible India Pavilion, a 5,000 sq. ft. immersive space at the Maha Kumbh venue. This pavilion will cater to foreign tourists, researchers, journalists, photographers, and members of the Indian diaspora. It will showcase the cultural significance of the Kumbh Mela while featuring the Dekho Apna Desh People’s Choice Poll, inviting visitors to vote for their favourite Indian tourism destinations.

Dedicated Tourist Infoline for Seamless Assistance

To assist the diverse influx of international visitors, the Ministry has introduced a toll-free Tourist Infoline (1800111363 or 1363) operating in English, Hindi, ten international languages, and several Indian vernacular languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, and Marathi. This service aims to provide information, guidance, and support, ensuring a smooth experience for all attendees.
Collaborative Efforts for Accommodation and Connectivity
The Ministry has joined forces with key stakeholders, including the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (UPSTDC), IRCTC, and ITDC, to offer luxury accommodations and curated tour packages. The ITDC Tent City in Prayagraj, along with luxury tents provided by IRCTC, will cater to the accommodation needs of a large number of pilgrims and tourists.
To improve connectivity, the Ministry has partnered with Alliance Air to enhance air travel options to Prayagraj from major cities across India. This collaboration ensures convenient and hassle-free travel for both domestic and international visitors.

Additionally, the Ministry is undertaking a large-scale photoshoot and videography project to capture the grandeur and spiritual essence of the Maha Kumbh. These visuals will be shared across national and international media platforms, promoting Prayagraj as a spiritual and cultural hotspot.
