
The Shahdol Regional Industry Conclave, held with great fanfare, has paved the way for robust economic development in Madhya Pradesh. With investment proposals worth ₹32,520 crore and the promise of over 30,000 jobs, the conclave exemplified the state’s commitment to becoming a hub of industrial and entrepreneurial excellence.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, addressing the event, emphasized the state’s vision of making India the ‘Golden Bird’ once again, through entrepreneurship and innovation. “Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, our nation is harnessing its immense potential, shifting from being the 11th-largest economy in 2014 to becoming a global economic powerhouse. Madhya Pradesh, with its 9 crore citizens, is rapidly contributing to this growth and aspires to double its GDP within the next five years,” Dr. Yadav stated.

- Investment Proposals: The conclave secured investments across energy, mining, renewable energy, textiles, and MSME sectors.
- Land Allotment: 401 acres allocated to 102 industrial units with a projected investment of ₹3,561 crore and 9,561 new jobs.
- Industrial Park Foundation: Bhoomi pujan of the Gohparu Industrial Park (51 hectares), developed at ₹16.13 crore.
- Sectoral Sessions: Focused on MSME, tourism, and mining, highlighting state initiatives to promote investment.
- Entrepreneurial Interaction: Dr. Yadav conducted one-on-one discussions with over 15 industrialists, ensuring direct dialogue and support.

- Thermal Power Plant: Torrent Power Ltd. to invest ₹18,000 crore in an 800 MW thermal power plant, creating 7,000 jobs.
- Mining and Energy Projects: Bajrang Power and Steel (₹3,300 crore), Sharda Energy & Minerals (₹2,500 crore), and other key players proposed significant projects in mining and renewable energy.
- MSME Growth: Investments of ₹1,710 crore in MSME sectors, generating 4,650 jobs.

Industrial Development with a Human Touch
The Chief Minister lauded entrepreneurs as the backbone of the economy, aligning their efforts with the Indian philosophy of “Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah” (May all be happy). He asserted that industrial development in the state is not limited to physical infrastructure but extends to the welfare of every social class. He promised, “Every youth in Madhya Pradesh will receive employment according to their skills and qualifications.”

Key initiatives at the conclave included the foundation stone laying of the Industrial Park at Gohparu, which will span 51 hectares and be developed at a cost of ₹16.13 crore. Additionally, allocation orders for 102 industrial units covering 401 acres were distributed, which will see an investment of ₹3,561 crore and create employment for over 9,500 individuals.

Major Investment Commitments
Among the key announcements, Torrent Power Limited pledged to establish an 800 MW thermal power plant with an investment of ₹18,000 crore, creating 7,000 jobs. Bajrang Power and Steel proposed investments worth ₹3,300 crore for a mining project in Umaria, expected to generate 1,500 jobs. Sharda Energy & Minerals announced plans to set up a coal-based steel plant in Shahdol, alongside renewable energy initiatives, at an investment of ₹2,500 crore.
Prominent industrialist Narendra Goyal committed ₹3,000 crore for a steel rod manufacturing plant in Shahdol, supported by coal mining operations in the area.
MSME and StartUp Growth
The conclave highlighted the region’s potential in MSMEs and start-ups. With over 15.9 lakh MSMEs employing more than 83 lakh people, Madhya Pradesh has emerged as the seventh-largest hub for MSMEs in India. To further boost this sector, the state offers incentives like capital subsidies, tax reliefs, and export-oriented benefits. Notably, 4,900 start-ups, 47% of which are led by women, are thriving in the state, supported by 72 incubators and four Atal Incubation Centers.
Renewable Energy on the Rise
Additional Chief Secretary for New and Renewable Energy, Manu Srivastava, showcased the state’s achievements in renewable energy, with capacity expanding from 491 MW in 2012 to 6,418 MW in 2024. Projects like the Rewa Solar Park and upcoming parks in Shajapur and Neemuch exemplify Madhya Pradesh’s green energy potential. A joint hybrid project with Uttar Pradesh promises shared energy distribution, a first-of-its-kind initiative in the country.
Sectoral Highlights
The conclave hosted three sectoral sessions focusing on MSMEs, tourism, and mining. The tourism sector emerged as a key investment area, with opportunities in hotels, homestays, and heritage-based projects. Additional Managing Director of the Tourism Board, Smt. Bidisha Mukherjee, highlighted the state’s rich natural and cultural heritage, including 14 UNESCO sites and nine tiger reserves.
