Sanchar Saathi Mobile App

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has launched the Sanchar Saathi mobile app, a new tool aimed at simplifying the reporting of suspected fraudulent communications. The app allows users to directly flag suspicious incidents from their call logs, offering enhanced security and convenience to mobile subscribers.

A Foundation for Security

The Sanchar Saathi portal, introduced in May 2023, has played a significant role in reducing fraudulent activities in the telecom sector. The newly launched mobile app builds on this foundation, providing users with a secure platform to manage and protect their mobile connections.

Key Features of the Sanchar Saathi Initiative

The Sanchar Saathi platform offers several features to ensure mobile security:

  • Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR): Facilitates the blocking or tracing of lost mobile phones.
  • Telecom Analytics for Fraud Management and Consumer Protection (TAFCOP): Helps users manage their mobile connections and detect unauthorized usage.

Additionally, the platform allows users to:

  • Check the number of mobile connections registered in their name.
  • Disconnect unnecessary connections.
  • Verify the authenticity of devices.
  • Report unauthorized usage.

Expanding Digital Connectivity

Union Minister of Communications, Jyotiraditya Scindia, unveiled two additional initiatives alongside the Sanchar Saathi app:

  • Vision for National Broadband Mission 2.0: Aims to expand broadband access across the country.
  • Intra-Circle Roaming at 4G Sites Funded by Digital Bharat Nidhi: Focuses on improving mobile network accessibility in remote areas.

At the launch, Minister Scindia emphasized the government’s commitment to creating a secure and inclusive digital ecosystem. “The Sanchar Saathi initiative ensures a safe environment where the privacy and security of every customer are protected,” he stated.

The Sanchar Saathi app is expected to strengthen efforts to combat fraudulent communications, making the digital space safer for mobile users across India. Through these initiatives, the DoT continues to advance its vision of a secure and connected Digital India.
