B. Shanker Jaiswal

Delhi Police has appointed B. Shanker Jaiswal as its Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), entrusting him with the critical task of strengthening cybersecurity for one of the world’s largest metropolitan police organisations. Known for his extensive expertise in cybersecurity, technology, and law enforcement, Jaiswal will lead the development and implementation of advanced cybersecurity frameworks to protect police operations and sensitive information from evolving cyber threats.

Jaiswal has been an integral part of Delhi Police for over two years, serving as Joint Commissioner of Police for Technology, Cyber, and Licensing. During this time, he spearheaded several technology-driven initiatives, such as integrating cutting-edge cybercrime analytics, enhancing cyber forensics, and leading modernization projects. His academic pursuit as a Ph.D. scholar at IIT-Delhi further reflects his commitment to innovation in the cyber domain.

Before his role in Delhi Police, Jaiswal served as Director of Training and Administration at the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), where he spearheaded national programs in police training and modernisation. He also contributed to policy-making as Director of the National Police Mission, focusing on improving police efficiency and fostering innovation across India.

Jaiswal’s expertise in cybersecurity extends to his tenure as Deputy Director of the National Cyber Crime Research and Innovation Centre (NCRIC) under the Ministry of Home Affairs. In this role, he played a pivotal part in identifying vulnerabilities and forging strategic partnerships with academic and private sectors to combat cybercrime effectively.


Throughout his career, Jaiswal has held key positions in Delhi Police, including Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for South, Outer, and Traffic Southern Range, where he managed crime prevention, VIP security, and public order in the dynamic National Capital Region.

The Cyber Crime Unit of Delhi Police, under his guidance, continues to address complex cybercrime cases with advanced forensic capabilities, including recovering deleted data from devices. With Jaiswal’s leadership, the unit aims to strengthen its capabilities further in tackling sophisticated cyber threats.
